For the Royal Highness in all of us…
Inspired by the youngest “Daughter of Eve” to become a Queen of Narnia in the classic book series by C.S. Lewis, this seamless hat is made by knitting the brim, joining in a circle, then picking up and working the crown in the round.
Made in a bulky-weight yarn, it knits up quickly, and makes a great gift.
Sized for heads from 18” around (Child Small) to 23” around (Ladies’ large).
I have made this hat in both Bernat Softee Chunky and Bernat Alpaca, and it was lovely in both. The Softee Chunky had a little more stiffness to it, though. The softness of the alpaca is what allowed the drape in the adult hat pictured. NOTE: The Softee Chunky I originally designed with has been replaced by a yarn of the same name and a different gauge by the company. This yarn suggestion has been removed from the pattern. Vintage (164 yd) skeins could still be used.
IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE! I knit rather tightly, and if you do not check your gauge, your hatband could be too large. Adjust needle sizes as necessary to achieve gauge.
