Secret Garden Fingerless Mittens

Construction:

Fingerless mittens are worked in the round from the cuff up to the fingers, then finished with the thumb.

Sizes:

Measurements given are hand circumference, not finished garment measurements. Age ranges are approximates.

1. EXTRA SMALL (CHILD): 6 to 6.5 inches / 15 to 16.3 cm

2. SMALL (LADIES/YOUTH SMALL): 7 inches / 17.5 cm

3. MEDIUM (LADIES MEDIUM/YOUTH): 7.5 inches / 18.8 cm

4. LARGE (LADIES LARGE): 8 to 8.5 inches / 20 to 21.3 cm

Supplies:

Yarn weight numbers should be used as a guide—check yardages for more accuracy.

Yarn:

1, 1, 1, 2 x 50 grams / 99.0 metres (1.75 ounces / 110 yards) balls worsted-weight yarn

Approximate yardage requirements: 66, 82, 92, 115 yards / 61, 75, 95, 103 metres

Needles:

• 4.0 mm (US 6) double-pointed needles, or size needed to obtain gauge

• Optional alternative: circular needles in the same size to work in the round using two circular needles or one circular needle with the Magic Loop Method

Notions:

• yarn needle

• around six stitch markers

• scrap of yarn for stitch holder (thumb stitches)

Gauge:

24 stitches and 32 rows = 4 inches (or 10 cm) over stockinette stitch in the round

SKILLS YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE THIS PATTERN:

• make a gauge swatch in stockinette stitch
