Songs from the Heart

A selection of demo music by songwriter Talena Winters across a wide range of styles.

In the beginning, I crafted stories in song…

Music is my longest-standing love affair with craft. I started singing before I could talk, and started composing at the age of nine. That craft was developed through a two-year diploma program at Red Deer College.

Since then, I have taught many students how to play piano, as well as composed hundreds of songs, several of which have won awards. My unfinished opus is a full-length musical called Queen of Persia that I’m co-writing with the talented Candace Marshall.

While I spend most of my time these days writing and editing fiction, I’m available to write music for other artists’ projects. Please contact me if you would like me to write for you or co-write with you. All of my songs are available for licensing.

Below is a wide-ranging sample of songs I have written or co-written before. These are all demos only. However, if you choose to purchase or stream through an online service, it allows me to make a few pennies, which will eventually add up to more professionally-produced demos. Every play or purchase helps. (I don’t currently have music purchasing set up here, sorry.)

I have had many people tell me that my songs have a lot of "heart." This is true—I put my heart into my songs, and my songs tell stories that lay bare the emotions behind them. I hope those stories connect with you as you listen to my music.

From my heart to yours,

Talena
