One of the most poignant revelations of my faith journey was when I realized that Jesus would have died to save only me—if I was the only one who’d ever sinned—even though I would have had to be the one pounding in his nails. Like Mary Magdalene, I have always been acutely aware of how undeserving I am of the grace He’s extended to me—to not only redeem me from the mistakes of my past, but to then call me loved, cherished, and the Bride of Christ.
This song’s original hook in 2011 was “This Great Mystery”, but a revision in 2025 brought it to this much more resonant form. May it bless you, my friend, and remind you that you, too, are part of the beautiful mystery of the saving grace of Christ.
