Structural Assessment + Partial Manuscript Editing Bundles
Often, the first chapter of a manuscript tends to be the most problematic, and how the story begins, so it goes on. If I can help you begin it well (and you revise the rest to match), you will save a great deal of time and cash on editing the entire manuscript. This bundles together the benefits of a Structural Assessment with a Partial Manuscript Assessment and, optionally, a Partial Developmental Line Edit to give you solid feedback to work with when revising your novel.
Structural + Partial Manuscript Assessment includes:
Structural assessment of your synopsis or outline (up to 3,000 words)
Manuscript assessment of the first 20 pages (5,000 words)
BEST VALUE: Structural + Partial Manuscript Assessment + Partial Developmental Line Edit includes:
Structural assessment of your synopsis or outline (up to 3,000 words)
Manuscript assessment of the first 20 pages (5,000 words)
Line edit of the first six pages (1,500 words)

How the Structural + Partial Manuscript Assessment works:
I analyze the outline and partial manuscript.
While analyzing your sample, Iβll make in-manuscript comments as I go about whatβs working well and what needs improvement or clarification.
Iβll create a detailed report addressing where your plot is working, where itβs not (and why), and other issues I find with character development, pacing, flow, clarity, voice, and structure. Iβll also include suggestions of ways to fix them. These reports are extremely thorough.
How the Structural + Partial Manuscript Assessment + Partial Developmental Line Edit works:
Includes everything in the base package, plus:
With Track Changes on, I make in-text revisions to improve scene, paragraph, and sentence structure to address clarity, flow, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
What can you learn from a Structural + Partial Manuscript Assessment?
Whether you have all the pieces of your story structure in place, with suggestions for how to streamline or bolster weak areas
Whether you have a good handle on your story problem and have set it up well
If you have issues with voice, pacing, characters, style, and other writing habits that will bog down future editing passes
What can you learn from a Partial Developmental Line Edit?
See in-text examples of ways to improve your voice, clarity, and writing mechanics.
Learn how to better organize your thoughts to communicate your ideas to the reader.
Become aware of common writing mistakes or habits that will detract from the reader experience.
Best if you:
Are getting professional editing for the first time or want to level up your writing craft
Want to ensure your plot structure is in placeβespecially if something feels off, missing, or βbrokenβ
Want solid feedback across the full range of high-level issues you could begin addressing before you pay for a full editing pass
Are trying to get the most value from the least number of editing passes at the most economical price
Are willing to do as much work as possible to clean up the manuscript yourself before having an editor work on your entire project
Partial Line Edit add-on: Would like to learn ways to improve your writing on a line-by-line, mechanical level
For partial assessments, my report is often almost as long as or even longer than your original submission. I can see a lot from a little, and I dive deep.
